Peroflon® FEP

We supply virgin FEP, (Flourinated Ethylene Propylene), of a very high quality into medical and cable coating applications. We supply pellet grades covering the full range of MFR's from 4 to 26:

FEP is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene. Like PFA, and unlike PTFE it is melt-processible using conventional injection molding and screw extrusion techniques.

FEP is very similar in composition to PTFE and PFA, which are also both fully fluorinated. (ETFE and PVDF are both 50% fluorinated). FEP exhibits low friction and is also almost completely non-reactive. It is softer than PTFE and melts at 260 ºC; it is highly transparent and resistant to sunlight.

FEP has particularly high corrosion resistance - comparable with PTFE and,in fact, better than PTFE with detergents. This is because it is the only fluoropolymer, other than PTFE, that contains only carbon and fluorine.

If FEP has a weakness it is that the maximum operating temperature is 30 or 40C lower than PFA, (which in turn is 30 to 40C below PTFE).

FEP has similar electrical properties to PTFE, although it tends to be softer and more flexible.

FEP has similar applications to PFA, (ie cables, tubing etc)
