We have many years expertise with PEEK. We will collect your PEEK scrap in whatever form you have it. The cleaner and purer the better of course. We also reprocess PEEK into pellet, milled powder, regrind or shavings depending on which form your process can accept. The properties of our reprocessed materials are very close to that of virgin materials but at a significantly reduced cost! Below are the technical data sheets for the products and also analyses for 11 batches showing how the properties of our material compare with virgin.
For the chemists and chemical engineers:
PEEK is a semicrystalline thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties that are retained to high temperatures. PEEK polymers are obtained by step-growth polymerization by the dialkylation of bisphenolate salts. Typical is the reaction of 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone with the disodium salt of hydroquinone, which is generated in situ by deprotonation with sodium carbonate. The reaction is conducted around 300ºC in polar aprotic solvents - such as diphenylsulphone.[2][3]
It glass transitions around 140ºC and melts around 340ºC. It does not degrade easily at high temperatures and is happy in both organic and aqueous systems, although certain strong acids and halogenated environments can be problematic. It is particularly useful in extreme vacuum. Peek exhibits good long-term wear resistance and low creep.
PEEK is often used to make seal rings, thrust washers, bushings, bearings, gears, valves, impellers and liners.
Available Grades, (all Victrex):
Regrind, (cleaned to remove dust, fines, surface residues and foreign material):
Pure 450G, 450G 30% glass filled, 150G 30% glass filled, 450G 15% TFE, HT
Reprocessed Pellets, (cleaned, melt-filtered, re-pelletised), in natural or black:
Pure 450G, 450G 30% Carbon, 450G 30% Graphite Fibre
Milled Powder, (Usually from pellet, but also possible direct from hard-stock although any contamination embedded within the hardstock would be in the powder).
